Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday, Mark!!!

I must say, one of the things I love about you is your ability to always make me laugh. Most of the time you don't even mean too, it just happens! So we wish you many more birthday's with many more years of laughter. If you are lucky I'll be there with a camera in hand so you never forget . .

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

For some reason blogger didn't keep the first picture when i posted. Now it won't let me rearrange to what you see is what you get!

Kevin Had A Birthday

That was rather bittersweet, for me. This was the year that he turned 21, (on July 4) a day that my mother had looked forward to for many years! Mom has been gone from this earth for nearly five years. She so wanted to show him all the ropes, and see his thrill the first time he was able to pull that arm down, or push a button whatever it may be. I was not happy that she was not here to get her wish, so I was happy to have Nicole in town to send along with Calvin so I didn't have to go (she got to take the pictures for me, as I felt I would look rather silly sitting at a machine with tears running down my face) plus I got alone time with the grandkids! From the picture's I think his grandma would have gotten a kick out of his first gambling experience. Kevin showing off his casino card.Dad showing him you have to take money out of your wallet to put in the machine.
He hit a little something, oh boy!

putting the ticket in to get his money out.

Just like his sister, take the winnings and run . . .

Kevin has been gambling a few times since then, today we went again. I decided that it was time for him to learn video poker as that was one of grandma's favorite's. I'm not a very good teacher, if I understand something, I just figure every one else does also. I kept saying things like" what two do you want to keep," meaning the pair, Kevin thinking the "2". Then I figured it out and saying "the one's that are the same", well, that worked until he got four hearts and I was saying no keep the hearts. Poor kid was like the same what? Make up your mind the shapes or the numbers? He was down to his last dollar, put his hand up and said, "I do it myself, o hey?" I figured OK do it yourself. He did it and got it right, by George (pun intended) I think he's got it!
I must say that after five years I still miss and think about my mom every. single. day. Usually with a smile as the memories are great but, today as I write this, it is with tears, because as much as she wanted to be here for this milestone of my boy's, I want her to be here also. To my children who I've always taught life isn't always fair, here is a prime example.
Now to those of you who still can, GO HUG your MOM!

He's in his Twenties

Kevin's 20th birthday started out kind of slow . . . with a trip to the ER. He woke up and could hardly use his left foot at all! I gave him three Aleve and it wasn't any better after three hours so decided it needed to be check out. They took x-rays and could find nothing wrong, Tuesday it will be off to a specialist. At least they gave him stronger stuff for the pain and he enjoyed the rest of his day!Kevin had a few friends over to help eat the cake!!! He had his friends party a couple of weeks ago with Sara.

Kevin and Catherine.

He loved his states red, white and blue shirts.

It is so hard to believe that our "baby" is no longer a teenager but, a young man eager to start his post school experience and get that job!
For any one interested I'm giving notice that next year will be a BIG outing party with some time at the slots and a drink or two!! So any of you who need to travel . . . start planning now!
Mark and Brian do you hear me???

CELEBRATING THE BIG 18

We thought Kevin might enjoy going for some go cart rides on his birthday so, over to Grand Prix we went. Cal thought he and Kevin could ride the double seater together well, much to his surprise, Kevin is a bit big for that. One of the operators at the place opened the back track just for US!!!!!! It was awesome, Kevin got to go and if he ran someone off the track it would just be his dad, so no big deal! Here is Kevin getting behind the wheel!!Coming around the first turn and full speed.Kasey Kahne better watch out, look at him go.OOPS!!! hit the curve and needed a little assistance to get going again.Next we went for a couple of rides down the slide.
Kevin just had to ride the roller coaster.
After spending an hour in the 102 degree weather, we decided to go inside and play a few games. He really liked this shoot 'em up one. Of course we had to play a little "bowling" I think Kevin had fun and that's the important thing.
We have some tickets and tokens left over, so guess what Isababy (I will think of a new name for you as you are certainly not a baby) Grand Prix her we come once you arrive!

Basketball to dance with, for HSM practice and a DVD.

A big thank you to Mark, Nicole, Isa and Baby K for the Pirate stuff he's already had it on.

So all in all Kevin had a good day, however the one problem I'm having now is trying to convince him that no, we are not going to WDW when Nicole, Isa and Kai arrive.
Oh, the joys of life.
