21 Things About Kevin

Since it's Down Syndrome Awareness month, I thought I'd do a post on Kevin (also b/c Ruth did one and I liked it). Since you have 21 chromosomes when you have Down syndrome I'll do 21 things.
  1. Kevin's sisters, Nicole and Heather, choose his first name.
  2. Kevin's brother, Trevor, chose his middle name, George. Trevor chose this name because it was grandpa's first name and he was Trevor's "best fishing buddy".
  3. Kevin graduated high school in 2009.
  4. Kevin loves to travel . . . favorite destination ~ ~ Walt Disney World!!
  5. Kevin also loves to have "date nights". He has them often.
  6. Has a great time performing with the performing arts group Life Long Dreams.
  7. Kevin was born on July 4th.
  8. This may explain why he is so proud to be an American and loves everything USA!
9. Loves thrill rides. His favorite being The Tower of Terror.
10. Has many, many friends.
11. Was JR. prince at his high schools prom.
12. Was in the JRROTC when he was in high school.

13. Loves and is loved by his family and dog, Leroy.
14. His favorite drink is Coke.
15. Kevin's favorite food is a cheeseburger and french fries.
16. Has enjoyed attending Joy Prom for the last two years.
17. Enjoys going to the store with his dad.
18. Loves all the Toy Story movies and Toy Tory himself!
19. Gets a kick out of seeing little ones and playing peek-a-boo with them.
20. Likes the computer and WII games.
21. Is a blessing to everyone he comes in contact with. Next year if I remember I may do one about his first 10 years.

Found SDCard

When you wake up early on a Sunday morning what do ya do?? Go to the beach!!
Not that the card was really lost, I just forgot about the other camera! So this is from out trip to Santa Monica in October. What a better place to make a phone call to dad, than the beach. Kevin really wanted his picture taken with the life guard shack.
There was a big picture similar to this in our room. It of course did not have the homeless person sleeping beneath it, I thought it might be rude to wake them.

The park, across the street from the hotel we stayed at.
The view from our hotel.
After a nice early morning on the beach you need a great breakfast at a wonderful restaurant.

Kevin's breakfast, complete with fresh squeezed orange juice!

More Trip Photo's

Geno is just a super nice man, here he is introducing the kids to some people in the park that he knew. Kevin was all over that!
Kevin and Catherine outside of the magic shop. They are watching the wheel spin for 30 seconds then you look at your hands and see wiggly things all over it.
Grumpy again! This trip he knew what he wanted and when he wanted it and that was how it was going to be. The only problem was Lisette and I knew how much walking we were willing to do and running from one end of the park to the other wasn't going to work, Grumpy wasn't happy.

The Brair Bears messing with Catherine. She really thought this was funny.

Kevin with the bears.
Stay tuned, there may be more random shots coming up in the next day or so.

Happy Birthday

How well we remember the day you officially became a member of the family, and are thankful for how happy you make our daughter and grandchildren . . .
. . . not to mention how much fun the rest of us have with you!!

Remember this one? Target practice with you BIL all over Bin Laden. I'll never forget when you guys came back to the hotel room all smiles cuz you "got him".Then of course there is your destructive side, you and Brian seemed to have enjoyed your time spent together tearing down your house (at least part of it). There's also the patient side of you that I really appreciate, especially after the trip to the Grand Canon that I assured you two was only a couple of hours. You could still manage a little smile for me (unlike someone else).

The way you are almost always willing to humor Kevin. Here you all are learning songs and moves from LLD. You do know that he thinks you walk on water, don't you?
I'm still amazed at your many talents, like building this boat!
Taking time to stop and smell the cactus.
Now, here is one of my favorite memories, you getting to play sheriff at Bonnie Springs. It was so much fun to watch you squirm with embarrassment. Although I still feel bad for the guy you had hanged!
Then of course there is the time we took you to Fremont Street and we had to carry you home after this drink . . . after all you finished Nicole's too! Now you know I'm just kidding right? I would never carry you home after too much partying . . . I just left you laying in the street;)
Of course I was just kidding about the drink! However I'm not kidding about how much we enjoy the time spent with you. We are blessed you are a member of the family and hope to "celebrate" many more birthdays with you!
Have a happy birthday, Mark.

Downtown Disney

Kevin wanted so badly to be made up like a rock star at Disney's 365, I just felt that they had already taken enough of his money!
He was still able to sing like a rock star and that made him so happy.Outside the Lego store Kevin is copying one of the Lego statues.
Then look what he found when he went inside!! This boy loves his Toy Story. We finally made it to the destination Kevin had been waiting for . . .
The World of Disney Store.
He sang and danced his way on over.

Happy boy.
After we were done here we made our way home. It was a perfect trip, with great friends, sunny beaches and all the characters you'd ever want to meet.

Our Last Morning

Our trip ended with a surf's up breakfast with some of the characters. Meeting us at the door was the mouse himself! Then Pluto came around to say hi . . .

. . . and get his nose scratched of course.

Minnie came by for a quick hug!

About every 20-30 minutes this guy came out and lead everyone in different fun activities. This one was learning how to "surf" AKA hang ten.

Gotta love a duck, Daisy to be specific.
Kevin was delighted to see Stitch and go dance with him.
Kevin shaking a little bootie.
Swimming out to your board.

Showing everyone how it's done to HSM!
We had so much fun at the breakfast, Kevin was so excited to see Stitch and Goofy's son. It was the first time in a while that I'd seen Kevin at a buffet and not really interested in the food!
